Kota Kinabalu, 11 November 2015 – Take the Kokol hill challenge on 29th November, another exciting event brought to you by Eventfinders Kota Kinabalu. The 17-kilometre run will be flagged off at 6am from the Menggatal Town Padang.
Following the thrill of the recent Halloween run on the 31st October, the Kokol Hill Challenge invites runners to take on the trail of Kokol hill. The event is a brainchild of Md. Joh Wid(Political secretary, Ministry of Finance) and Marzuki Nasir who not only wanted to encourage a healthy lifestyle through running but also promote Kokol as a tourism destination.
“The Kokol Hill Challenge is not just another run – it is unique because it involve the local community. Our liaison for the district Menggatal and Kokol, Jerry Goh, together with his committee, is actively looking for volunteers from the nearby village of kampung Kokol, Tongug and Sinompuru.” Said Susan Shahira, Director of Eventfinders. Adding that the community members will also be playing traditional musical instruments as part of a cultural performance. “We a also working closely with the Ketua Kampung(Village Heads) to ensure the safety of runners particularly along the Kokol road.” She said. The organizers will be making a donation to Sekolah Rendah Kokol and Kokol Church as part of their community service.
There are four categories in this challenge: Men’s open, Women’s Open, Men’s Veteran and Women’s Veteran and each categories will get Top-5 cash prize. To date, almost 400 participants from around Sabah and Sarawak has registered for the run.
Cement Industries is the main sponsor for the run. Official drink is sponsored by Revive and Running Magazine as the official magazine for the event. Fellow sponsor Lifestyle Reflexology and Beauty Therapy Centre will be opening a foot massage booth where runners and visitors can enjoy their services at minimal fee. The event is supported by Sabah State, Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Environment Sabah, Sabah Tourism Board, DBKK and PDRM.
