Blue-naped Parrot

Found only in Borneo and islands of the Philippines, these pretty looking Parrot is one of the species found at Tg. Aru Beach, about 10 minutes drive from Kota Kinabalu downtown. Current population here around 12-20 birds which were introduced in the 70’s after saving it from the cage at fish market by Quentin Philipps, the author for Birds of Borneo bird book.

Other birds could be found at the beach such as Dusky Munia, Pink-necked Green Pigeon, Javan Myna, White-breasted Wood Swallow and Little Tern. Next time when you come for picnic or sightseeing along the beach, do not forget to look out for these Parrot šŸ˜€
